Do-It-Yourself Weatherization Workshops
Summer and Fall Sessions 2010

Central Vermont Community Action Council (CVCAC) is organizing a series of day-long Weatherization Skillshops in nine locations statewide for do-it-yourselfers on how to weatherize their homes. These skillshops are being organizing in partnership with the Adult Technical Education Centers throughout the state. Skillshop participants will learn the core fundamentals and hands-on techniques needed to improve building efficiency on their own, including background on building science, how-to demonstrations, and hands-on skill building.

Limited Free Technical Assistance (details)
Our committee can provide on-site assistance in assessing the critical energy-related needs of your home and help connect you with appropriate resources.

Town Office Efficiency Work (details)
We will be doing work to enhance weatherization at the town office. Volunteer!

Lincoln Community Woodbank (details)
The Lincoln Energy Committee provides limited quantities of firewood for Lincoln residents who find themselves in short-term, urgent need.

Burnable wood is also set aside at the Transfer Station on Downingsville Road.

Forest Service Wood Harvesting Permits
The Forest Service in Middlebury sells annual permits for down and dead wood. $20/cord.

Rebates on Wood Stoves
If you purchase a new, qualifying biomass (wood or pellet) stove between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010, you can take a tax credit totaling 30% of the installed price, up to $5,000 (maximum credit $1500).

Seasonal Fuel Assistance Program (details)
a. This service helps low-income families pay a portion of their home heating bills.

b. Those who heat with wood must use a firewood dealer certified with the state program.
