The Lincoln Energy Committee provides limited quantities of firewood for Lincoln
residents who find themselves in short-term, urgent need. The wood is available
for pickup at the old town shed, 641 East River Road. Delivery available at 453-5396.

The Forest Service in Middlebury sells annual permits
for down and dead wood. $20/cord.

Rebates on Wood Stoves
If you
purchase a new, qualifying biomass (wood or pellet) stove
between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010, you can
take a tax credit totaling 30% of the installed price,
up to $5,000 (maximum credit $1500).

Seasonal Fuel Assistance Program

This service helps low-income families
pay a portion of their home heating bills. Apply by
mail July through February. Home owner benefits are
paid to the fuel supplier. Renters receive a benefit
check.

Those who heat with wood must use a firewood dealer
certified with the state program. A list of certified
firewood dealers in your area is available at the Vermont
Department for Children and Families or their website
(dcf.vermont.gov). If your current dealer is not certified,
s/he can call Fuel Dealer Liaison Maggie Reith at 1-800-479-6151.
